Talk:LIB Format (Electronic Arts)

From ModdingWiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

There is a variation of the Electronic Arts library file (*.lib) format described on the main page used by "The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Serrated Scalpel". There are the following differences:

1. The signature is the string "LIB" followed by the byte 0x1A.

2. There is no byte between the file name and offset. BTW: It appears that this byte indicates whether or not the file in question is the last one. Can any one confirm this?

I wrote a program in VB.Net that extract the library files described on the main page and the variation I described.

It can be downloaded from EA Library Extractor

The variations you describe sound like LIB Format (Mythos Software), as used by The Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Serrated Scalpel. -- Malvineous (talk) 23:13, 2 February 2015 (UTC)
Oops, I mistakenly assumed that "The Lost Files of Sherklock Holmes" had also been developed by Electronic Arts. The fact that this game has a midi music format very similair to that used in EA games must have confused me. URL:
It looks like Mythos Software and EA are pretty closely affiliated so I guess that's no surprise! -- Malvineous (talk) 13:10, 3 February 2015 (UTC)
